Argument Writing:  5 Minute Plan (Copy)
1. What is the question being asked?
Has television had positive impact on presidential elections?

2. What is my viewpoint? (claim)
More people are tuned in to presidential elections, but most are influenced by appearance not what is truly important.
3.  Why is this issue important?
We are all affected by our choice in president and should choose based on qualifications.
4. What is the counterclaim?
Politics on television provides a more “direct” link to all people.

5. What valid points does the counterclaim have?
More people are aware of more issues and can get a real feel of a candidate’s personality.

6. But why am I still right?
When candidates are too much in the public eye, people tend to judge their looks and personal lives a bit too much.
7. What are my parting words of warning? (If....then...)
If we are not careful, a president will be chosen for the wrong reasons!

Introduction:
·       Pull the reader into the topic of the essay.
·       You can use a hook, anecdote, or quote from one of the sources.
·       Your claim should be at the END of your introduction!

Conclusion:
·       Restate your claim in different words.
·       Review your ideas/points discussed in your body paragraphs (Do not need quotes from sources again!)
·       End with a final thought on your topic!

It would be beneficial to review your research paper from this year!
